Rob, great comment and enjoyed your post as well. You make a good point about Oracle making the most of virtualization and creating an internal cloud. Too bad they don't make some of their infrastructure/apps available to their customers so that they too can share in the incredible savings!

Cheers for championing the message and I have to agree with your definition of the Cloud. I also understand Larry. He is miffed because he didn't come up with it. In his defense, it IS the past at Oracle, with some technical distinctions; multi-tenancy, metadata driven architecture and metering. Internally Oracle has enjoyed many benefits of the Cloud for years and can be a a beacon to model one's "Stairway to the Cloud." Most organizations have some big gain potential that Oracle has already encountered. I blogged about it last week:
