He is correct that the success of an SaaS offering depends more on how good the software is not its delivery model. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;My firm launched the web&amp;#39;s first Database-as-a-Service in 1999, a time when SaaS was brand new and most companies were wary about software in the cloud.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Fast forward nearly 10 years, and many of the same issues are being debated. The difference is that with successful vendors like Salseforce.com, the industry has role models.
